Though the International Badminton Federation's (I.B.F.) application for the inclusion of Badminton in the 1976 Olympic Games to be held at Montreal was down for consideration at the meeting of the International Olympic Committee (I.O.C.) at Sapporo, Japan. last month, we learn that the matter was again deferred.

In a letter from Sapporo Mr. Avery Brundage, the President of the I.O.C., informs us that "because of the overcharged agenda the Committee did not have an opportunity to discuss your application again. In as much as they will have a demonstration at Munich during the Games of the Twentieth Olympiad later this year and the members will have an opportunity to see the games played, it will be more effectively discussed at that time. I had the pleasure of meeting President Sonneville recently and enjoyed a brief conversation with him on you can imagine what subject."
From the foregoing it is quite clear that there must exist considerable hope that Badminton may have the honour of being included in the programme of the Olympic Games. lt is also to be hoped that a great many of the 73 members of the I.O.C. Committee will be able to witness the tournament to be staged as a "demonstration" at Munich on September 4th.
