Olympic Champions

At Barcelona 1992 Badminton became an official sport in the Olympic Programme. Susi Susanti of Indonesia had the honour of claiming the game's first Olympic Gold, while it was also her very first Medal as well as her nation's (Indonesia) first golden success at the Olympics.

At Atlanta 1996 it was Denmark's champion Poul-Erik Hoyer Larsen and Korea's Bang Soo-Hyun who emerged to win Gold, while in the Sydney edition of the Games, China's showed increasing success when it swept up 4 out of the 5 Gold Medals on offer - except for Men's Doubles.

In Athens in 2004 Taufik Hidayat did extremely well to keep the Chinese at bay, while at Beijing in 2008 Lin Dan along with Zhang Ning simply reinstated China's overall supremacy in the game. And at the last edition in London Lin Dan once again led China's charge, this time all five Gold Medals went to the overpowering Chinese!
