Prime Minister Supportive of BWF Presence in Malaysia31 December, 2012
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has expressed support for Badminton World Federation maintaining its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
At a recent meeting with BWF officials earlier this month, he noted the positive impact of having badminton’s world-governing organisation in Malaysia, particularly given the sport’s prominence in the country and region.
BWF Deputy President Paisan Rangsikitpho said the meeting – to which he was accompanied by BWF Council Member and Chair of the Finance Committee Dato' Lim Teong Kiat and BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund – was “constructive”.
He also noted the Prime Minister is a big badminton fan and is keen to ensure BWF has the appropriate environment in which to further its global mandate from its Kuala Lumpur office.
